Suggested Amendments to the text of the King James Version in Acts and the Epistles

The Epistle Book, published by Deacon Peter Gardner, with a margin correction

I would suggest that every instance in which we find the phrase “Holy Ghost,” it should be changed to “Holy Spirit,” not because it is hard to understand, but simply to conform it to the normal usage in our services. I would do the same with the word “shew” and all its various forms (“shewed,” “shewing,” “sheweth,” “shewing,” and “shewbread”) – “shew” should be changed to “show” (“showed,” “showing,” “showeth,” “showing,” and “showbread”). These changes can only be done practically by the publisher, however, because these words appear so frequently in the text. Otherwise, I would encourage you to just train your readers to make these corrections while reading it.

I would suggest you make the following changes in the margin of your text, for the sake of consistency, but more importantly to remove obscurities that have resulted due to the changes in meaning of some of the words and phrases in the King James text. Some of the changes are less critical than others. The changes I think are the most essential are in bold.
